March Sprezz
everything that made my heart flutter last month
At some point in the last decade, I discovered (and became rather obsessed) with the idea of sprezzatura. Thanks are in order to signore Baldassare Castiglione, who coined it in 1582. Leave it to a dangerously romantic Italian to think up such a thing.
Often, it’s used to describe fashion, art, or visuals with an aura of effortless nonchalance. It’s a ‘studied’ carelessness, cool factor. It’s je ne sais quoi!
A million years ago, I had a spam account @sprezzaaaaaaa where I’d post design, art, objects…whatever I felt embodied that feeling. While that’s long gone, I’ve continued to search for sprezz wherever I can, so why not dump it here? Here’s everywhere I found it in March:

a deep dive into the most precious and heavenly selection of antique lace-y items from 101__vintage, a tiny shop in Korea I would like to visit please

makes me want to quit my life and go live on a European hillside while exclusively outfitting myself in little clouds of Edwardian lace Romy Schneider (especially in this dress)

If you want to smell sexy and unique (and be told that to your face), I’ve been loving this scent from Matiere Premiere. I’ve never experienced so many compliments. It’s vanilla, but in a way I’ve not experienced before…almost grown up.
I don’t smoke (ok maybe once in a blue moon if I’m a little buzzed and wearing a hot outfit) but I do find myself intrigued with Japanese cigarette brand Hope. I haven’t been to Japan, but I (like everyone else) am dying to go. I had no concept prior of what Japanese nicotine branding might be like? (lol)
‘Shit’ marker on newsprint, Bruno Monguzzi (2005) An original piece made live on stage during a lecture by Monguzzi at RISD, demonstrating beauty can be found in anything. I love this on cellular level and I keep coming back to it
I’m having visions of white ballet flats, or kitten heels. I had a real obsession with white shoes for years, but took a slight hiatus. I’m dipping my toe back in….

This crysanthemum cake from the mind of Antonella Tignenelli
My procurement of below whimsical pearl choker I decided I needed and promptly won online at auction (a dangerous new habit)

breathing the same air as Sofia Coppola and Marc Jacobs
in honour of reopening the books on Tops with Intrigue (2.0 is coming) here’s a sneak preview, one I admittedly can’t stop thinking about:
after service drawings left on the table at Lagana London, where they supply you with crayons and a fresh canvas. I plan on this at all future dinner parties

Speaking of b-day bitches, it’s my birthday this weekend (happy Aries season), and I was little emo about it this week. But then I remembered spring is minutes away, and I get to spend it frolicking in the city alongside the newly budded cherry blossoms, so I think I’ll be ok. Also, cannot believe I wrote this two years ago:
I feel like an entirely different person now, which to me, is a great sign. Getting older is weird, cool, and wonderful. And more importantly, a privilege!!!!!!!!!!

so much good sprezzzz. and there is truly nothing (nothing!) like a white flat.
I love this, you always speak my languge!!! I need to say that Lagana in London is cute and all but food is very mid, apart from the cheesecake that is heaven!
