Summer M.V.P.s

I don't care for sports. I do care for a workhorse...

Sweat has been the common denominator of my July. And while sports mean mostly nothing to me, I do hold space for the M.V.P’s in my closet. In fact, I’d argue that a summer wardrobe workhorse goes harder than most.¹

Mentally, I’m ready for fall (don’t be mad at me)…but while the seasons catch up, here’s what I’ve been reaching for most in the meantime:

Kye Intimates Bateau Sleeveless Top

The Bateau Sleeveless Top from Kye. I wear a Size 1 and own it in Black and Espresso. Worth every penny…

Generally, I’m more of a Top Girl. That said, this sleeveless Bateau neck from Kye Intimates has saved my life.² It’s form fitting, but causes zero agita. I find the deep scoop in the back to be subtly sexy, too.

Ultra-soft, it washes well and doesn’t wrinkle easily. It goes with everything, and never feels try-hard…especially for something that wears close to the body. What the hell else can you ask for???

Brooke Callahan Tie Pant, Tie Skirt, etc.

I am here, again, to scream my love from the rooftops for Brooke’s crisp cottons. Naturally, the The Tie Skirt (O/S) and Tie Pants (I wear a M) pair perfectly with the Kye Bateau we’ve just discussed (pictured together below). Either option is what I pull when my brain does not work, or I need to get dressed in 2 minutes flat. Honourable mention to the capris, too!

Christopher Esber Linen Trousers

I picked these up in my shopgirl days, when I had the pleasure of buying Christopher Esber at a wholesale level. (I miss that...) These trousers have remained an obsession since I first tried them on years ago, and I reach for them religiously every summer.

The combination of lack-there-of waist band and soft tailoring feels relaxed, yet elevated. It seems they’re no longer producing this style (big mistake, huge…) but I’m confident you could find something similar, or a solid vintage pair with some digging.

St. Agni ‘Cotton Baby Tee’

I own Khaki green, and this really nice soft, washed back. I go for size S here.

I do (unfortunately) simp for the St. Agni t-shirts. Painful…due to the price tag (they’ve increased the price since I first got on board)…however, I can speak to the quality. Not a single sign of pilling after two years of wear.

It’s a perfect length (this says A LOT as my torso is approximately 5” long) and offers a nice lightweight cotton rib that holds shape. It may not rock your world, but it does exactly what it intends to. At their NYC pop-up, I picked up a new-ish ‘Ballerina’ style that you can also wear backwards or forwards.³

Pêche ‘Kika’ Mesh Flats

All I have to say is this is a 10,000K+ step shoe. While it does nothing for your arch support, it is comfortable and cute. $89, if you’d like a dip in the ‘mesh shoe’ waters. I’m wearing them in 80% of the pictures included in this rundown. Fits TTS.

I felt hot in this outfit despite being in my FLATS! (speaking as a 5’ 2 adult) Loved the re-discovery of this silk flower chain belt hiding in my closet <3

E-Bay Bangles, Silk Scarves, Impractical Accessories

Accessories maketh the outfit—especially when you don’t want your anything to touch your body. How else do you have any fun? Hyper-fixations of late:

• resin bangles purchased exclusively from sweet old ladies on eBay

  

• belts of all character, shapes, and sizes—whimsy encouraged (see above)

• a YSL Arty Ring (obtained after years of deep-seated desire) We’re bringing them back!!!!!! More on this soon...

• scrunchies in your hair, on your wrist like a bracelet/for optimal outfit balance (like

Daily Purse with Personality

After hunting for months for a new everyday bag, and a RealReal credit burning in my pocket…I surprised myself and ordered a Nancy Gonzalez robin-egg blue hobo.

I’m really taken with it, and it truly makes every outfit I pair it with even better. What I’m saying is, free yourself from the Neutral Purse Paradigm we all live in. It’s fun!

Anyway, I can’t believe it’s August. I plan riding out the season wearing all of the above, eating as many gelatos as possible, and watching every sunset available to me.
